Dele Sosimi, veteran Afrobeat keyboardist and arranger for Fela Kuti’s ‘Egypt 80′ orchestra, who has gone on to become one of the seminal torch-bearers for the genre, will be performing live at with full band at Jazz Re:freshed at Mau Mau Bar, London on Thursday 23rd June.
Since moving to the UK some years ago, Sosimi has proven to be a cherished exponent of Afrobeat in Europe… constantly on tour and composing for orchestras – his tracks are frequently cited by famed remixers as playing a vital role in keeping the genre relevant and moving-forward.
This is a not-to-be-missed session where Afrobeat opens up and freedom is the theme without loss of the Funk n Fro characteristic of Afrobeat features a fantastic line-up of musicians who have been consistent members of Dele’s different bands.
