DJ Arafat, or Arafat Muana (real name Ange Didier Houon), is a griot, DJ and singer from Yopougon, Côte d’Ivoire who makes music of the Coupé-Décalé genre. He has been behind the success of several artists from Côte d’Ivoire including Molare with his Boucan song. Arafat is son of the famous Ivorian singer Tina Glamour. He surfaced at the beginnings of the Coupé Décalé movement, as the officiating Dj in one of the largest maquis of Abidjan. His first major success came from his album Hommage à Jonathan in 2003 in which part of the filming for part of the debut video was carried out in the Park of the Sports of Treichville with the presence of Douk Saga, Roland Benguiste, Mulukuku DJ. After the release of the album, he emigrated and settled in France and came out with yet another successful album entitled Femmes. In 2008, he worked with Dj Debordeaux Likoufa in producing an album which promoted a dance called Kpangor or the dance of the gorilla. He is known for his numerous collaborations in Ivorian entertianment, in particular with Shanaka Yakusa or Dj Rodrigue.
